Razer，新興スマートフォンメーカーNextbitを買収

　北米時間2017年1月30日，Razerは，「Robin」というAndroidスマートフォンで知られる新興メーカー，Nextbit Systemsの買収を発表した。Nextbit Systemの幹部および従業員はすでにRazerへ合流済みだが，今後もRazerから独立した部門として運営を継続するという。

　「Razerがスマートフォンメーカーを買収」と聞くと，LEDイルミネーション機能「Razer Chroma」に対応し，ゲーマー向けメッセンジャ機能「Razer Comms」プリインストールで，音周りではTHX認証を受け，「Razer Surround」にも対応して……と妄想が膨らむところだが，残念なことに，いまのところ，具体的な“Razer Phone”開発計画は明らかになっていない。ただ，スマートフォンメーカーを買収したこと，それ自体が強いメッセージ性を帯びているのは確かなので，ゲーマーとしては，今後の動きを楽しみに追いかけたいところである。



2017年1月31日 米国カリフォルニア州アーバイン発： ゲーマーの為のライフスタイルブランドを世界規模でリードするRazer社は、米Nextbit Systems社の大半の資産を取得し、同社の幹部、従業員をRazer社に迎え入れた事を本日発表しました。今月初頭に完了した同買収に関する財務的詳細は、非公開です。

IRVINE, Calif. - Razer , the leading global lifestyle brand for gamers, today confirmed that it has acquired the majority of the assets of Nextbit Systems Inc. and has brought onboard the management and employees of the company. Financial details of the transaction, which closed earlier this month, were not disclosed.

According to Razer, Nextbit will operate as a standalone business unit under its own management and apart from the ongoing business of its parent company. Furthermore, Nextbit will continue with product support and software updates for its Robin smartphone.
