「Warhammer 40,000: Darktide」の最新ビデオダイアリー公開。シナリオに，“ガーディアンズ・オブ・ギャラクシー”の原作者が参加

　スウェーデンのFatsharkが開発中の新作「Warhammer 40,000: Darktide」（PC / Xbox Series X）の開発者ビデオダイアリーが公開され，脚本チームにコミックス「ガーディアンズ・オブ・ギャラクシー」の原作者としても有名な漫画家ダン・アブネット（Dan Abnett）氏が参加していることが明らかにされた。

　アブネット氏は，ミニチュアゲーム「ウォーハンマー40,000」シリーズの小説やグラフィックノベル展開であるBlack Libraryに作家として参加しており，「Gaunt's Ghosts」シリーズの著者としてファンにはよく知られる人物だ。


　2020年7月24日に掲載した記事でお伝えしたとおり，「Warhammer 40,000: Darktide」は，最大4人のプレイヤーが参加できるCo-opをメインに，迫力あるメレーアクションが楽しめる作品だ。インぺリウムの古都で，10億人が居住するという巨大都市テルティアム・ハイブを舞台に，闇で蠢くケイオスの魔物達と戦う民兵組織「ガウンツ・ゴースト」のメンバーとして，さまざまなミッションに挑むという設定であり，アブネット氏の参加は自然な流れとも言える。


　開発を行うFatsharkは，同じく4人Co-opを中心とした「Warhammer: Vermintide」シリーズの開発で知られるメーカーで，「Warhammer 40,000: Darktide」はその背景をファンタジー世界の「ウォーハンマー」から「ウォーハンマー40,000」に移した形だ。
　プレイヤー同士が助け合いながらゲームを進めるという，アブネット氏らしい「人間性」を重視した物語が用意されており，全体としてはサバイバルホラー要素を強調したゲームになるとのことだ。


　現在Steamでは，ウォーハンマーのイベント「Warhammer Skulls」の開催を記念して，セールが行われている。「Warhammer: Vermintide 2」が75％オフ，Focus Home Interactiveが発売したばかりの「Necromunda: Hired Gun」が15％オフなど，新旧のウォーハンマー関連作品がセール価格で販売されているので，こちらも合わせてチェックしておこう。
