パイレーツものに生まれ変わったアクションRPG，「Risen 2: Dark Waters」の開発者ダイアリー公開

　ドイツのPiranha Bytesが開発中のアクションRPG「Risen 2: Dark Waters」（PC/PlayStation 3/Xbox 360）の開発者ダイアリーが公開され，新たに実装される要素，ファクション（ギルド）の解説が行われた。

　Risen 2: Dark Watersは，前作の中世ヨーロッパ風のダークな世界観から打って変わり，深いジャングルに覆われた島々が点在する南の海へと冒険の船を漕ぎ出していくことになる。ストーリー上，序盤には海賊のギルドへ強制的に加入させられるのだが，ゲーム世界を自由に散策しながらゲームを進めることで，やがていろいろなファクションに出会い，どこに参加するのか好きに選べるようになる。


　公開されたダイアリーでは，銃器などが利用できる「Inquisition」と，ブードゥー魔法が使える「Natives」，そしてコンパニオンキャラクターを仲間にできる「Gnomes」の3つが紹介されている。このコンパニオンにはJafferという名前がついているが，一緒に戦ってくれたり，倒した敵や宝箱からアイテムを収集してくれたりするそうだ。なんともブスかわいい，憎めないキャラクターという雰囲気がする。


　「Gothic」シリーズで知られるPiranha Bytesの新作Risen 2: Dark Watersは，欧米では2012年4月末の発売が予定されている。新要素がふんだんに盛り込まれた異色のアクションRPGとして，欧米のファンに注目されそうだ。
