Steam版「Dead Island 2」が4月22日発売へ。DLC全部入りの前作「Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition」は2月16日まで無料！

　Deep SilverとDambuster Studiosは本日（2024年2月14日），「Dead Island 2」のSteam版を4月22日にリリースすると発表した。それを記念して，Steam版「Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition」の無料配布がスタートしている。配布期間は2月16日まで。

　Dead Island 2は，ゾンビウィルスによって壊滅したロサンゼルスを舞台とする，オープンワールド形式の一人称視点ホラーアクションだ。発表からリリースまで約9年と長い時間がかかったが，ゴア表現やクラフト要素といった持ち味が前作から大幅な進化を遂げ，発売から約1か月で200万本以上の売上を記録している。

　Embracer Groupは2023年第1四半期（1月〜3月）の業績を発表し，「Dead Island 2」の世界累計販売本数が200万本を突破したと発表した。「Dead Island」のヒットを受けて続編が計画されたものの，一時は開発中止が噂されるほどの難産だった本作。リリース後の評価は高いようだ。

　無料配布が開始された「Dead Island: Riptide Definitive Edition」は，第1作目「Dead Island」の続編にあたる作品で，ゲーム本編とDLCがセットになっている。配布期間が終了してもライブラリには残るとのことなので，とりあえず期間内にダウンロードしておこう。
