島々を漂流しながら世界の謎を解いていくサバイバルADV「Windbound」のゲームプレイを紹介する最新映像が公開

　オーストラリアの5Live Studiosは，Deep Silverから2020年8月28日に発売を予定している探索アドベンチャー「Windbound」（PC / PS4 / Xbox One / Nintendo Switch）のゲームプレイを解説する，20分を超える最新動画を公開した。

　「Windbound」は，嵐によって部族と生き別れてしまった海洋民族の女性“カーラ”が，カヌーに乗って小さな島々を転々と移動しながら，食料やアイテムを獲得したり，カヌーや武器をアップグレードしたりして，この世界のミステリーを解き明かしていくというストーリーだ。石器時代から青銅器時代への変革期や，南太平洋における人類の拡大をモチーフにしたファンタジー世界を舞台にしている。


　今回の映像では，以前のような木製のアウトリガーではなく，芦を織り込んだカヌーを徐々にアップグレードしていく様子が紹介されており，コントローラを上手く操作して船を操るシステムのようだ。
　リードアニメーターのミッチ・クリフォード（Mitch Clifford）氏の解説によると，島々では，水牛やイノシシを思わせる生物を狩りつつ，さまざまなアイテムを獲得してクラフティングを行っていくと紹介されており「同じ場所で生活の場を築くのではなく，限られた資源の中で動き回るサバイバル」であるという。


　インタフェースとテキストが日本語化される予定で，すでにSteamやEpic Gamesストアでプレオーダーも開始している。本作は，古代遺跡のような場所を調査することで，地域の歴史を徐々に解き明かしていくようなストーリーになっており，テキストや壁画など，ビジュアル重視のストーリーテリングに期待できそうだ。
