「Saints Row IV」の関連映像2本が公開。ダブステップ銃とメックで戦うアメリカ大統領に打ち震えるべし

　Deep Silverは，ブッ飛んだ世界設定で異彩を放つオープンワールド型アクション「Saints Row IV」（PC / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360）において，主人公のアクションをダイジェストでまとめたトレイラー「Meet the President」と，プレイアブルデモを約7分にわたって紹介する「PAX Demo」という映像を，立て続けに公開した。後者は，2013年3月にボストンで開催された「PAX East」で公開されたものだ。



　Saints Row IVは，地方都市の港町スティールポートのギャング団「サード・ストリート・セインツ」のリーダーが，アメリカ大統領に選ばれて異星からの侵略者達と戦うという，もう行くところまで行ってしまった感のあるシリーズ第4弾だ。今回の主人公は，大統領になるばかりか，映画「マトリックス」のネオよろしく高速で飛び回ったり，重量物を飛行機に投げつけたり，クルマを押しのけながら爆走したりするといったスーパーパワーを秘めている。PAX Demoでは，ダブステップのリズムで“時間を小刻みに前後させて”人々を混乱させる「ダブステップ銃」といった奇妙極まりない武器や，過去のシリーズ作品よりもパワーアップしたカスタマイズ機能，戦闘メックまでが紹介されている。


　THQの倒産時に販売権がDeep Silverへと移行（関連記事）したSaints Row IVは，北米では8月20日，ヨーロッパ圏では8月23日に発売される。やりたい放題のバカ騒ぎを再び満喫できる日も，そう遠くはない。
