Codemastersがシリーズ最新作「GRID AUTOSPORT」を発表。さらにシミュレーション性を向上させて，欧米では6月下旬にリリース

　Codemastersは，「GRID」シリーズの最新作となる「GRID AUTOSPORT」を発表した。対応プラットフォームはPC，PlayStation 3およびXbox 360。発売時期はアメリカで2014年6月24日，ヨーロッパで6月27日を予定している。

　「GRID AUTOSPORT」は“レースのすべてを詰め込む”という同シリーズの核となる部分はそのままに，さまざまなコミュニティから寄せられたフィードバックはもちろん，レース専門誌やレースドライバーからのアドバイスをゲームに取り入れているという。具体的には，ストーリー性を重視してカジュアル志向だったと批判を受けていた前作「RACE DRIVER GRID 2」から方向転換を図り，さらにシミュレーション性を向上させている点が大きな特徴となる。
　同社の公式ブログでは，「フルシミュレーションを目指すゲームではないが，ハンドリングに関しては『RACE DRIVER GRID』よりも1，2歩前進させた感覚」と説明している。


　ゲームモードはツーリングカー，耐久レース，ストリートレース，チューナーレースに加え，「TOCA Touring Car Championship」シリーズを彷彿とさせるオープンホイールの5種目を実装。それぞれにGTやシングルシート，マッスルカー，ドリフト，プロトタイプといった車種が用意されており，プレイヤーは総合的なレーサーを目指すことになる。
　レースの舞台となるロケーションはホッケンハイム，サンフランシスコ，ヤス・マリーナなど22か所で，種目によって100を超えるバリエーションを持つとのこと。また，「RaceNet」をベースにしたオンラインマルチプレイにも対応予定だ。
　現時点で日本でのリリースは発表されていないが，その続報を楽しみにしておきたい。
