「フォートナイト」，Xbox Cloud Gamingで無料プレイが可能に。サブスク不要，iPhoneやiPadでも遊べる

　Microsoftは本日（2022年5月6日），Epic Gamesとのパートナーシップを通して，ブラウザを使用するXbox Cloud Gaming（ベータ版）対応デバイスに向けた「フォートナイト」の提供を，日本を含む26か国で開始したと発表した。Microsoftアカウントと，インターネットにアクセス可能なiOS，iPadOS，Android搭載のスマートフォンやタブレット，またはPC（Windows）があればプレイ可能。Xbox Cloud GamingはXbox Game Passのプラン「Xbox Game Pass Ultimate」に含まれる形でサービスが始まったが（関連記事），フォートナイトはXbox Game Passなしで遊べる。


　クラウド版フォートナイトは，対応デバイスのブラウザで「www.xbox.com/ja-JP/play」にアクセスし，「無料でプレイ」ボタンをクリック，そしてMicrosoftアカウントでサインインすることでプレイできる。フォートナイト向けに作られたタッチ コントロールのほか，対応のコントローラを使うことも可能となっている。

　なお現時点でフォートナイトは，App StoreおよびGoogle Playでの配信が行われていない（関連記事）。Android版はEpic Gamesの公式サイトでダウンロードが可能だが，iOS版には現時点で同じような手段が提供されていないため，今回のXbox Cloud Gamingでのサービス提供開始は多くのファンに歓迎されそうだ。

　これについてMicrosoftは，「今回のように、無料でプレイいただけるゲームタイトルをXbox Cloud Gaming(ベータ版) のカタログに追加できたことは、私たちがクラウド対応を進める上で重要な一歩です。Xboxでは今回追加された『フォートナイト』に加え、今後も無料プレイが可能な人気タイトルを追加していくことに取り組んでいきます」とXbox Wireに投稿した記事でコメントしている。
