リメイク版「Alone in the Dark」の最新トレイラー公開。カーンビーを待ち受ける恐怖「ダークマン」の姿が明らかに

　ゲームパブリッシャのTHQ Nordicは，2023年10月25日の発売が予定されている「Alone in the Dark」（PC / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S）の最新トレイラーを公開中だ。

　スウェーデンのPieces Interactiveが開発を担当する本作は，1992年にPC向けにリリースされた「Alone in the Dark」の“リ・イマジネーション”作品だ。オリジナル版は，プリレンダの背景上でポリゴンキャラクターを動かすという試みが，以降に続く多くのタイトルに影響を与え，「史上初の3Dサバイバルホラー」としてギネス世界記録に認定されているという。
　いくつもの続編がリリースされ，コンシューマ機への移植も行われたものの，3Dが当たり前になった時代に入ってからは大きなヒットには恵まれず，とくに2015年の「Alone in the Dark: Illumination」が評価が低かったことから，シリーズの先行きが危ぶまれていた。


　新作の舞台となるのは1920年代のアメリカ南部で，プレイヤーは私立探偵のエドワード・カーンビーとして，エミリー・ハートウッドと共に，行方不明になった彼女の叔父を追って，幽霊屋敷として知られるデルセト館に潜入するという，オリジナル版に沿った物語が展開する。デルセト館では，悪夢のようなモンスターと対峙しつつ，パズルを解き，悪の陰謀を暴いていくことになるという。

　公開されたトレイラーは約40秒と短いものだが，キーキャラクターだと思われるDark Man（ダークマン）の姿を一瞬，見ることができる。キャッチコピーは「彼の名前を口にしてはいけない。彼は常に聞き耳を立てている」で，詳しくは，追って明らかにするという。予約受付もすでに始まっているので，続報をお楽しみに。

　THQ Nordicは本日（2023年5月26日），特別番組「Alone in the Dark Spotlight」を配信し，「Alone in the Dark」を2023年10月25日に発売することを発表した。同作はかつて一世を風靡し，映画化もされた同名サバイバルホラーゲームの“reimagination（リ・イマジネーション）版”だ。
