［GDC 2021］「Hades」が第21回Game Developers Choice AwardsのGame of the Yearを受賞

　オンラインで開催中のゲーム開発者向けイベント「Game Developers Conference 2021」（GDC 2021）。その3日目となる本日（7月22日）「Game Developers Choice Awards」が行われ，各部門の受賞作品が発表された。

　開発者やメディアといったゲーム関係者の投票により受賞作品が決定されるGame Developers Choice Awards。21回目となる今回は，「あつまれ どうぶつの森」「The Last of Us Part II」「Half-Life: Alyx」「Ghost of Tsushima」という大型タイトルを押さえ，Supergiant Gamesが手掛けたアクションゲーム「Hades」がGAME OF THE YEARに輝いた。


　ゲーム自体の評価はもちろん，これまで多くのゲームアワードで賞を獲得していることでも2020年を代表するインディーズゲームとなっている「Hades」。Game Developers Choice Awardsでも6部門にノミネートされ，GAME OF THE YEAR，BEST AUDIO，BEST DESIGNの3部門を受賞した。
　各部門のノミネートと受賞タイトルは以下のとおり。GAME OF THE YEARにノミネートされた「Ghost of Tsushima」がBEST VISUAL ARTとAudience Awardの2部門，「The Last of Us Part II」がBEST NARRATIVE，「Half-Life: Alyx」がBEST VR/AR GAMEを獲得している。

　Game Developers Choice Awardsの前に行われたインディーズゲームの祭典「Independent Games Festival」では，最優秀賞にあたるSeumas McNally Grand Prizeを，Game Developers Choice AwardsのBEST DEBUTにもノミネートされていた“サイバーパンクフォトグラフィカルゲーム”こと「Umurangi Generation」が受賞。Excellence in Narrativeと合わせて2部門を獲得した。
　なお同作品は，第24回文化庁メディア芸術祭のエンターテインメント部門新人賞を獲得しており，こちらも「Hades」同様に日本国内でも注目度の高い作品だ。各部門のノミネートと受賞タイトルもまとめてあるので，Game Developers Choice Awardsと合わせてこちらもチェックしてほしい。
