id Softwareの最新FPS「Rage」の5分を超える最新ムービー公開。なかなか敵が死なない，まさに超硬派シューター

　欧米では2011年9月の発売が予定されているFPS，「Rage」（PC/PlayStation 3/Xbox 360）の新しいムービーが公開された。ご存じのように，本作の開発を手掛けるのは，FPSというゲームジャンルを生み出したゲームメーカーのid Softwareだ。同社は現在，ZeniMax Mediaの傘下にあり，Rageの欧米でのパブリッシングは，同じくZeniMax Media傘下のBethesda Softworksが担当する。

　「The Shrouded」と題されたこのムービーでは，プレイヤーがThe Shrouded Clanという盗賊団の隠れ家へ潜入する様子が描かれている。盗賊団のリーダーらしきキャラクターを爆死させるのが目的らしいのだが，多数登場する敵はライフルの弾が1発や2発当たったくらいではへこたれず，かなり固め。
　そのため，ムービーからも分かるように，単なる撃ち合いだけではなく，タレット，爆弾付きのラジコンカー，クモ型の小型ロボット，そしてドアを爆破するための装置といったさまざまなガジェットを駆使してクレバーに戦い抜いていくことが必要になる。


　Rageは，1人称視点のシューティングだけでなく，3人称視点のレースアクションの要素も含まれた，id Softwareとしては珍しいタイトルだ。ゲームエンジン「id Tech 5」によって描かれた，荒廃したポストアポカリプスの世界も独特で，欧米の多くのFPSファンが発売を楽しみにしているところだろう。
