「Borderlands 2」，5種類めのキャラクタークラス「Mechromancer」は，事前予約者向けの特典として無料配布されることが明らかに

　「Borderlands 2」（PC / PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360）において先日発表された（関連記事）5種類めのキャラクタークラス「Mechromancer」は，同作の事前予約者が参加する「Borderlands 2 Premiere Club」の特典として無償でリリースされることが，公式フォーラムでの書き込みで明らかにされた。

　Mechromancerは，先週末にボストンで開催されていたファン向けゲームイベント「PAX East」で発表されたキャラクター。発表時は「製品版が完成した後で錬り込んでいく」と紹介されていたことを考えると，実際にはまだプロトタイプ的な状況なのだろう。
　事前予約者向けの無料DLCといえば，例えばElectronic Artsの「Battlefield 3: Back to Kirkand」（関連記事）が記憶に新しいところだろうか。昨今はこういったDLCは珍しいものではなく，そもそもプレオーダーするだけで料金的な負担はないので，ファンには高評価で受け止められるものと思われる。

　欧米では，9月18日の発売に向けて本作のプレオーダーが受付中。予約によって，開発元Gearbox Softwareのロゴがついた「Gearbox Gunpack」，何かしらのアイテムを入手できる“お楽しみ袋”的なトレジャーボックスを開けるための「Golden Key」，そして相手を倒したり，トレジャーボックスを開けたりすることで得られるゴールドの量やアイテムの品質が向上する「Vault Hunter's Relic」という，3つのデジタルアイテムを入手できる。これに加え，アメリカのGameStopなど特定のゲーム販売店でパッケージ版を予約した人に対しては，「Creature Slaughter Dome」というCo-op向けの専用マップも与えられるという。


　本作の日本での展開については，プレオーダー向けのこうしたサービスに関する情報はもとより，発売日も確定していない。ひとまずは，こういった特典関連の情報を追いつつ，テンションを上げておきたいところだ。
