欧米で好評発売中の「Borderlands 2」で，DLC第1弾となる「Mechromancer」が予定より1週間早くリリース

　2K Gamesは，欧米で発売中の「Borderlands 2」（PC/PlayStation 3/Xbox 360）のダウンロードコンテンツ第1弾となる「Mechromancer」の配信を，予定より1週間早い北米時間の2012年10月9日に開始した。予約注文をしていた人やシーズンパスの購入者は無料でダウンロードでき，それ以外の人は9.99ドル/800マイクロソフトポイントで購入できる。

　この前倒しリリースは，開発元であるGearbox SoftwareのCEO，ランディ・ピッチフォード（Randy Pitchford）氏が自身のTwitterで発表したもので，ファンにとってはちょっとしたサプライズといえそうだ。“ゲイジ”という名前の少女でプレイするMechromancerは，大型ロボット「Deathtrap」を召喚して戦う独特のプレイが楽しめる。
　海外のファンサイトなどですでにDLCの詳細が掲載されており，スキルツリーには，「Best Friends Forever」「Little Big Trouble」「Ordered Chaos」と名付けられた3系統あることが明らかになっている。

　Borderlandsは，北米での発売（2012年9月18日）から現在までに，235万本のセールスを記録するというスマッシュヒットタイトルになった。ちなみに，10月5日に掲載した記事でもお伝えしたように，日本語版の場合は，リリースされる10月25日からすぐに「メクロマンサー」をプレイできることが発表されている。
