　アメリカ・サンフランシスコで開催中のゲーム開発者向けイベント「2023 Game Developers Conference」（GDC 2023）。その3日目となる北米時間2023年3月22日，GDCメインステージで「Game Developers Choice Awards」と「Independent Games Festival Awards」が開催された。2つのアワードの各部門のノミネート / 受賞作品をまとめてお届けしよう。

GOTYはELDEN RING！ デザイン，アートに関する2部門も受賞――第23回 Game Developers Choice Awards

　開発者やメディアといったゲーム関係者の投票により各賞の受賞作品が選ばれるGame Developers Choice Awardsは，今年で23回目。説明不要であろう2023年の話題作「ELDEN RING」が，Game of the Yearを含む6部門，猫が主役のアドベンチャー「Stray」が，インディーズ作品ながら同数の6部門でノミネートされた。それに続くように，「God of War Ragnarök」「Horizon Forbidden West」という2つの大型タイトル，「Neon White」「TUNIC」などインディーズゲームの注目作品が複数の賞にその名を連ねている。


　Game of the Yearを受賞したのは「ELDEN RING」。Best Design，Best Visual Artという，デザインとアートに関する2部門も受賞した。また「God of War Ragnarök」も，Best Audio，Best Technology，Audience Awardの3部門を受賞している。

「Betrayal at Club Low」が最優秀賞とNuovo Awardに――Independent Games Festival Awards 2023

　昨年（2022年）はGame Developers Choice AwardsでもGame of the Yearを獲得した「Inscryption」が，最優秀賞にあたるSeumas McNally Grand Prizeなど4部門を受賞し話題を呼んだ，“IGF”ことインディーズゲームの祭典「Independent Games Festival」。2023年は，Game Developers Choice Awardsの複数の賞にノミネートされた「TUNIC」と「Neon White」，また「Her Story」などで知られるSam Barlow氏の新作「Immortality」，シュールなビジュアルと世界観で熱心なファンを持つ「Betrayal At Club Low」などが複数の賞にノミネートされている。


　注目のSeumas McNally Grand Prizeを受賞したのは「Betrayal at Club Low」で，独創的な作品に贈られるNuovo Awardも受賞し2冠を獲得した。また，日本の作品としては，Excellence in Visual Artsにノミネートされていた大阪のデスクワークス制作による「RPGタイム！〜ライトの伝説〜」が見事受賞となっている。
