映像に写っているのは，オーストラリアの博物館「ACMI（Australian Centre for the Moving Image）」に展示される作品で「ゾートロープ」や「ゾエトロープ」と呼ばれる，ストロボ効果を利用した装置だ。
異なる動きを表現した人形を並べた台を回転させ，そこに一定間隔で光を当てることで，まるで人形が動いているかのように見えるという仕組みになっている。
実に100体以上の人形が使用されているという本作は，向こう10年にわたって展示される予定だという。なかなか気軽に見に行けるものではないが，もしオーストラリアへ行く機会があった際には，足を運んでみるのもいいだろう。
