「The Game Awards」のノミネート作品が発表。あつまれ どうぶつの森，FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE，Ghost of TsushimaなどがGame of the Yearの候補に

　年末恒例のゲームイベント，「The Game Awards」にノミネートされたタイトルが発表された。
　ゲームジャーナリストのGeoff Keighley氏が主催する「The Game Awards」は，2020年に発売された優れたゲームタイトルのほか，功績のあった関係者やeスポーツチームなどを顕彰するイベントで，2020年は北米太平洋標準時の12月10日16：00（日本時間12月11日9：00）に開催され，開始の30分前にはプレショウがスタートする予定だ。

　YouTubeなど45以上の配信プラットフォームがハリウッドで行われるイベントの模様をライブストリーミングし，視聴は無料。イベントでは，ライブ演奏のほかロンドンからの生中継なども行われる予定になっている。2019年の「The Game Awards」は，ピーク時には770万人が同時に視聴し，トータルの視聴者数は5000万人に達したという。

　世界95以上の国と地域のメディアとインフルエンサーによって選ばれたノミネート作品や団体，個人は，「Best Game Direction」「Best Indie」「Innovation in Accessibility」など，29項目に分けられ，その総数は145（ゲームタイトルの本数としては95本）におよぶ。気になる2020年の「Game of the Year」には，「あつまれ どうぶつの森」「DOOM Eternal」「FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE」「Ghost of Tsushima」「Hades」，そして「The Last of Us Part II」がノミネートされた。

　ノミネート作品はメディアのほか，一般のファンの投票も加味されたうえで優秀作品が選ばれる予定で，公式サイトではすでに投票の受付が始まっている。ファンはまた，公式Twitterを介して，「Most Anticipated Game」（最も期待するゲーム）の投票も行えるとのこと。

　主催者の発表によれば，今年のノミネート作品のうち22タイトルがソニー・インタラクティブエンタテインメントがパブリッシングを行ったゲームで，これは2017年に任天堂が記録した23タイトルに続く，2番目の記録とのことだ。
