Microsoftは北米時間2019年6月9日，プレスカンファレンス「Xbox E3 2019 Briefing」を開催し，Double Fine Productionsの新作アクション「Psychonauts 2」のゲームプレイ映像を公開した。これに合わせて，Double Fine ProductionsがMicrosoft傘下のスタジオになることも発表されている。

スウェーデンのパブリッシャStarbreeze Studiosは，Double Fine Productionsとの提携を発表し，2005年にリリースされた「Psychonauts」の続編「Psychonauts 2」の開発に資金を提供すると共に，2018年中にリリースすると発表した。前作の主人公ラズと仲間達による，新たな冒険が繰り広げられる。
Double Fine Productions，「Psychonauts 2」プロジェクトを発表。クラウドファンディングで開発資金の調達を予定し，目標額は330万ドル
